L’Oreal Paris brings Parisian glamor to Sydney

Taking inspiration from the iconic Le Défilé show in Paris, L’Oreal Paris held its first Australian show at the International Passenger Terminal on Sydney Harbor last week.

Ambassadors Jessica Fox, Madeline Madden and Riley Hemson graced the getaway, along with a bevy of brand muses (including Te Ao With Moana reporter and former Miss World New Zealand Jessica Tyson) to purposefully share a message of sisterhood, empowerment and beauty.

Unlike some of the more serious shows in recent years, L’Oreal Paris encouraged guests to take photos and videos, and to cheer on the models as they walked down the black carpet.

Australian canoeist and Olympic champion Jessica Fox opened the show, flashing a toothy smile and waving to the 250 spectators in attendance.

The energy throughout the 20-minute extravaganza was palpable as the crowd cheered and applauded each influential woman who took the stage. Some stopped to hug their loved ones, others danced, and everyone walked around.

Models appeared on the runway in groups of four, with words of encouragement flashing on a large screen behind them. The show is less about fashion and more about feelings: it served as a timely reminder that women are strong, worthy and determined.

Singer-songwriter Dami Im closed the show with a dynamic live performance I am who I am as the sun set behind the Sydney Opera House.

Michael Beal won this year’s AHFA Awards

The Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) were in full swing at The Star in Sydney over the weekend.

On Sunday, the glittering event kicked off with the Mane Stage, an exciting event that saw 34 renowned hairdressers perform eight styling sessions to educate and inspire the next generation of talent. Award winning hairdresser and friend Viva Michael Beal was joined by Antonio Calero, Richie Grisillo and Chinny Yip for a masterclass on Moroccan oil.

The AHFA Gala began on Monday, a colorful celebration of the brightest stars in hairdressing. Both Michael and Chinny (who work together at Salute Hair & Day Spa in Wellington) stayed and they did a good job too, with Michael being awarded Editors’ Stylist of the Year and Chinny winning New Zealand Hair Stylist of the Year.

Longtime friend and participant, Viva Over the years, the team has had the pleasure of collaborating with Michael on countless fashion and beauty editorial shoots. Not to mention attending events organized by Michael as one of Dyson’s New Zealand Ambassadors.

The celebrity hairstylist was also part of our judging panel for this year’s Viva Beauty Awards 2024 and was instrumental in selecting the finalists.

Congratulations, Mikhail!

Saint Beauty launches BBL and Moxi

This skincare combination has taken the beauty world by storm and now BBL and Moxi have come to the eastern suburbs.

Ahead of its anniversary, premium skincare clinic Saint Beauty has added BBL (broadband light) and Moxi (fractional laser) to its long list of services, offering clients next-generation treatments designed to improve skin color and texture. while restoring overall radiance.

BBL uses intense pulsed light therapy to address common skin concerns including pigmentation, redness, fine lines and acne scars. Light energy penetrates the dermis, stimulating collagen production and increasing skin elasticity.

Moxi is a type of non-ablative fractional laser that targets visible signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and enlarged pores. It works by creating micro-traumas in the dermis, enhancing the skin’s own wound healing response, with results said to be visible after just one treatment. Not to mention, there is minimal downtime, unlike other laser treatments.

Clients can sign up for BBL or Moxi treatments alone, or get additional results by trying them together.

“Both BBL and Moxi can be combined to produce even more impressive results. At Saint Beauty, we’re thrilled to be specializing in this powerful duo,” says Saint Beauty co-founder Emma Hughes.
